Where is South Africa in innovation. We have produced great designers & innovators, such as Gordon Murray & Pierre Terblanche ...... why do we loose them to the global industry? What's wrong with our industry? I believe the MIDP & now the AIDP promote globalised production & looses sight of the real value add of the automotive industry .... Design & engineering. As long as we see ourselves as "just an extension of a Japanese or European manufacturing facility" the industry will remain under threat. China & India are always going to be more cost effective.
